Identification, comparative analysis and presentation of English, German and Arabic terminology on marine tourism
This glossary contains some important English marine tourism terms and their equivalents in Arabic and German. The terms are provided with transcriptions, definitions, their translations into Arabic and German, and examples from the corpus to illustrate their use in the context of marine tourism in Oman. Some of the terms are illustrated by the photos taken by students and faculty of Sultan Qaboos University. The structure of the glossary includes an Introduction which presents the purpose of the glossary, describes its importance for Omani educational and academic context and sets guidelines for its users. The Introduction is followed by the Acknowledgements, and then by the Glossary in which every entry is presented in a form of a question which is answered by an English term with a definition, a German term and Arabic term. In addition, every term is supported by the context of its use, facts and information from a digital corpus of articles published in Oman and posted on the web pages of the local electronic media. References conclude the glossary.
